How to email yourself a daily summary of a Google Sheet

A lot of small teams run on one shared sheet: the day's deliveries, open enquiries, jobs booked. Everyone means to look at it first thing. Some days nobody does, and the first sign is a customer asking where their order is.

This guide sends the sheet to you instead. Every weekday at 09:00, a workflow reads the sheet, counts the rows and emails them to the people who need them. The subject line reads, say, Daily summary — 14 rows. It starts from a template that is built already, so most of the work is choosing your sheet and your recipients.

What you need

  • A Google Sheet with headings in its first row — Customer, Order, Deliver by, for example.
  • A Google Workspace connection. When you pick the spreadsheet, Google's own picker opens, and Bizomate sees only the files you pick. Connect Google Workspace
  • The email addresses that should get the summary — up to ten.

Build it

  1. In Bizomate, open Workflows and select + New workflow. On the empty canvas, under Start from a template, choose Daily summary by email from a sheet (Schedule, then Sheets, then Email).

Three steps appear, already joined. A message tells you what is left: the steps marked Needs setup — your sheet and your address. Starting a workflow from a template

  2. Check the schedule. Select the first step, Every weekday at 09:00. It is a Schedule trigger, set to weekdays at 09:00. Change the day or time if you like — every day, once a week, or on a particular day of the month. Next runs shows the next three times, so you can check it understood.

Times are in the time zone of whoever publishes the workflow. Running a workflow on a schedule

  3. Choose your sheet. Select Get the day's rows. It is Google Sheets · Get rows, set to give the rows as One list. So the next step sends one email with every row in it, rather than one email per row.

Choose your connection, select Choose to pick the spreadsheet, then choose the tab. Return at most starts at 100 rows from the top, below the headings; raise it to as many as 1,000.

The step reads the whole tab, up to that number, so point it at the rows you want to hear about. One way is a tab of its own. In Google Sheets, add a tab called Today that pulls today's rows from the main one with a formula. Then choose Today here. The workflow does not change when the main tab grows. 4. Say who gets it. Select Send the summary. It is Send an email — built in, sent from Bizomate's own address, no connection needed.

    • To: the addresses, separated by commas — sam@acme.example, asha@acme.example. Each person gets their own copy and does not see the others.
    • Subject: Daily summary — {{ steps.get_rows.count }} rows, from the template.
    • Message: the template's starts Good morning, gives the count, and then includes {{ steps.get_rows.rows }} — every row, written out as data with its headings.

The email is plain text. For a tidier one, write the message yourself using the values you care about — the first row's customer is {{ steps.get_rows.first.Customer }}, for example. To send from your own mailbox, with HTML or attachments, replace the step with Outlook · Send an email or Gmail · Send an email. Send an email from Bizomate · Using what earlier steps found

Test it on your real sheet

Select Test run. The workflow reads your sheet now, rather than waiting for 09:00, and the email really arrives — so check it in your inbox. Test runs never count towards your monthly runs.

When it reads right, select Publish, and add a short note such as Daily summary to Sam and Asha. A first publish switches the workflow on; the first email arrives at the next scheduled time. Publish a workflow

If it does not work. Each morning leaves a run you can open, with the rows that were read and the email that was sent. If a step fails, the run says which one and why. The usual causes:

  • The sheet has no headings in its first row. Add them in Google Sheets.
  • Google refused. The file was unshared or deleted. Pick the spreadsheet again, and reconnect if asked.
  • An address is not an email address. sam@acme is missing its ending; correct it.

What it costs

One run each weekday — about 22 runs a month — however many rows the sheet has. That fits on every plan, alongside your other workflows.
